Our camp site is situated on stunningly beautiful private land surrounded by beech woods and rolling chalk downland, just a short stroll from the South Downs Way. You are free to wander over the surrounding fields and up onto the Downs (just respect the country-code!).
Sleeping: The Safari Britain camp sleeps a max of 20 people in upto ten canvas bell tents. We provide foam mattresses, cotton bottom sheets, pillows and pillow cases. All you need to do is either bring a sleeping bag or a duvet. If you want us to provide a duvet with a cover, there will be an extra charge of £20 each. Do bring torches for use in the bell tents.
The Living Yurt: There is a spacous 22 foot yurt on a wooden platform exotically furnished with cow hides, sheep skin rugs, big sofas and tonnes of cushions. There’s a wood burning stove, big Moroccan lamps and beautifully painted bookshelves and cupboards full of maps, nature reference books, a guitar, board games, cards, cricket bats etc.
Cooking: Preparing your meals can be done on calor gas in the large fully-kitted kitchen yurt, or in good weather, on the central fireplace or the BBQ. . We don’t like plastic, so all cooking and eating is done off lovely old bits of crockery hunted down in flea markets and antique shops. We have lots of old French enamel cooking ware, enamel crockery, silver plated cutlery, proper wine glasses, big copper pots and a heavy duty frying pan ½ a metre wide.
The eco-loo is in a wooden hut with saloon style doors and binoculars so that you can admire the wonderful view at leisure. Saw dust and loo rolls provided.
Showers and hot water: We have an amazing tree shower, powered by a wood burning stove, tucked inside an ancient beech tree.
Provisions: We provide gas, wood, charcoal, drinking water, cool boxes, candles, matches, fire lighters, cleaning kit, loo paper, soap and condiments. All you need to bring is your own food and drink.
Rubbish: We ask you to take your rubbish away with you in heavy duty rubbish bags provided. Compost can be left onsite in the composting area.
Animals on site: We are not able to accommodate dogs as the site lies close to game bird areas and sheep. Do expect to make acquaintance with neighbouring sheep, lambs and small ponies, who may pay you a friendly visit.
